PE Analyst Comp

Has anyone ever seen someone go to the buyside as a MM PE Analyst after ~2 years of MM IB instead of as an PE Associate? Does anyone think it's worth it? What kind of comp expectations should there be assuming it's based in SF/NY/LA?

He gave me a clear action plan: tighten my elevator pitch to under 2 min, do a weekly modelling case study, and prep technicals, market questions and behaviourals. His networking advice (always ask each contact for 1-2 more names, track fund closes to spot hiring windows, a list of London infra headhunters) was very actionable. What would analyst1 comp be at mm tech pe/vc firm (~20 billion)? Internship prorated at $120k.
