PE analyst On-Cycle?
Incoming PE analyst at a firm w latest fund size of 3B in NYC, is it possible to go on cycle to move to the UMM space? Or will UMM PE firms only want IB analysts for on cycle and maybe give me a shot in off cycle? I feel very prepped and was at top BB group (ex.GS TMT/MS M&A) for junior summer but didn't get the return b/c staffer found out I was recruiting for PE FT

No. You have zero chance. Your best exit is working at a regional mall in Dakota. I'm being sarcastic if you can't tell...These posts just make no sense...
You got into PE out of undergrad, which is very impressive. Just find the headhunters you need to go through and reach out to them yourself. Maybe they won't reach out to you because you're already on the buyside, but they will happily talk to you if you reach out yourself if you want to go through on-cycle.
lol thanks appreciate it
Damn, how did they figure out? I’m doing SA and trying to do the same…
How big of an issue is staffer finding out about FT PE recruiting? Am considering doing the same but am now scared. Did you do something specific that made him think you're not coming back FT? i.e. WFH 2 days in a row for superdays? Would be tremendously helpful if you wouldn't mind opining.
Pretty big deal especially in a down market where they're looking for any excuse to not give an offer. Most groups don't care about recruiting for oncycle or whatever but no SA should be obviously recruiting.
As someone who has had interns obviously recruiting - a lot of them had "meetings" all the damn time and were constantly taking calls away from their desk. Even I don't have that many meetings. Try to stack your networking on a WFH day or just grab lunch with people who work nearby... and be a little more targeted so you don't have 5 coffee chats a day
Superdays aren't usually during the internships, typically August or later, so less of a problem there... I would try to avoid this conflict as no intern should be completely MIA for a half day given how short internships are

bump can some PE associate comment
Rotation program in Canadian pension (which I believe would be viewed similarly) so take this with a grain of salt - have recruited on-cycle myself for an UMM/MF role and will be starting next year - very possible to do given right framing/branding - you may run into a bit of a hiccup as you didn’t get an offer back to banking (every HH asked me this given I didn’t go back to my banking role) and so you’ll want to frame that answer smart - good luck!
thanks I'm thinking about framing it as "I realized I wanted to do PE and had a hard time balancing my summer and taking PE interviews" would this be a appropriate?
