PE-backed IPOs

Hi guys,

I am currently writing a dissertation on PE-backed issues on the London exchange (incl AIM) versus the HK exchange. I have obtained data from dealogic over all PE-backed issues since 2005, however I have some problems distinguishing buyout-backed from VC-backed issues. Does anyone know a good way to divide VC from BO IPOs? Can I use the deal or market value of the IPOs to distinguish them from each other?

Thanks a lot
