PE Career Path after MBA

Can someone shed some light on what's the career path like after MBA? Recently, got offered for a 2+2 MBA program at a T15 school. If you do the traditional 2 year IB analyst and 2 year PE associate, do you finish MBA and recruit for Principal right away or is it post mba associate role?

Typically people are recruiting for VP roles post-MBA. Some firms this year were recruiting for senior associates post-MBA with potential of promotion after another year, but most people are going after the VP position.

if you're already going into IB and planning on doing 2 years in PE before MBA, can't you get into a much better MBA program instead? Why settle for the T15 MBA?

IMO - pretty hard to recruit into post-mba VP from T15 even with prior PE experience. Should aim higher if going the MBA route. Otherwise go for direct VP promote or lateral as most funds have eliminated the MBA requirement if you’re sure about staying in PE. (Should do MBA if you’re thinking about transitioning or has other long term goals).

No such thing as T15 biz school. Outside M7 recruiting opportunities drop drastically. 0 point in going unless you have the opportunity to place in the industry you want.

Thanks all. I hope to get into a M7 but, the program that's being offer to me is on a full ride with 20k a year stipend while in school. Currently, 1st year ABL analyst at a BB, hope to transfer internally to Lev Fin, whom I have worked on several deals in partnership with. It's also the few lev fin team that does in house modeling and top in the league table. I have seem a good amount of MF placement over the last few years. Came from a no name non-target school, not even close to a state school. I'm afraid I would have a hard time recruiting for MF or UMM. Therefore, the plan is to do a 2 year associate at a decent MM. I plan to stay in PE till VP, love to get advice on whether you think it's worthwhile to attend a T15 B school base off my stats?
