PE Case Study Solution

Hi all, I have a case study that I would like a solution for as I am not sure how to go about it. If anyone would be willing to help me build this out it would be greatly appreciated. They give you instructions on a word doc with a few assumptions, a couple of financial pages in the CIM, and an excel.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s how you can approach solving a PE case study effectively:

  1. Understand the Instructions and Assumptions:

    • Carefully read the Word document provided. Highlight key assumptions and instructions.
    • Identify the specific deliverables required (e.g., valuation, investment recommendation, sensitivity analysis).
  2. Analyze the CIM (Confidential Information Memorandum):

    • Focus on the financial pages to extract key metrics like revenue, EBITDA, margins, and growth rates.
    • Look for any provided KPIs or segment-specific data that could influence your model.
  3. Build the Financial Model:

    • Start with a simple structure: Revenue Drivers → Top-Line → Adjusted EBITDA → Earnings → Free Cash Flow.
    • Incorporate the assumptions provided in the case study.
    • If applicable, build a basic LBO model. Use the financials from the CIM and assumptions to calculate IRR and MOIC.
  4. Perform Sensitivity Analysis:

    • Add functionality to test key variables (e.g., revenue growth, margin expansion, exit multiples).
    • This will help you present different scenarios and their impact on returns.
  5. Prepare Your Recommendation:

    • Summarize your findings in a clear and concise manner.
    • Include key metrics like IRR, MOIC, and any risks or opportunities identified.
  6. Polish Your Work:

    • Ensure your Excel model is clean, with clear labels and organized tabs.
    • If required, prepare a short presentation or memo summarizing your analysis.
