PE for Beginners?

Are there any books or websites on the subject of Private Equity that you guys can recommend to a sophomore Finance major? I would just like to learn a bit more each of the major sectors, if you will, of finance, mainly PE, AM, and RE so that I can keep my options open when I graduate instead of focusing on one or two specific sectors, like I'm doing now, which I feel is a huge mistake. I've skimmed over a number of posts the past year or so, but hadn't really paid attention because I was a CIS major then. Also, I'm coming from a non target (Temple U) so any advice for students coming from a non target would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM me.

I've noticed there are a lot of sarcastic posters on here, haha so let me clarify; any websites that have a decent amount of consolidated info, or info that you think would be sufficient for a newbie to learn. I've been on WSO for a long time, but I haven't come across one beginner-ish post.

At the end of the day, all of those products are about researching, evaluating, and valuing an asset. Maybe read a few general books on "what is PE/AM, etc," but I would strongly encourage you to spend the time you have to allocate to this pursuit, to learning about companies and how to analyze them. This is the skill set that will help you get and keep a job :)

good luck.
