PE Internship

I'm an incoming university student in the UK at a top target and want to get a PE internship in the US. I am not a US citizen.

In the UK, we don't really have the chances for pre-university internships, however I have done a substantial amount of work experience, including at a few PE funds. This summer I would definitely grind out technicals to be ready for any kind of interview. According to what I have read online, programs like KKR's summer internship do sponsor a visa so is that a viable route? Applications should open in January 2025. What would the experience level be of a US student applying for that same internship as compared to me? Any other advice would be appreciated.

Mind if I dm to ask a bit about how you landed pre-uni experiences at PE firms?
