PE Investing Timeline
Can someone help me understand a PE fund timeline.
I see for example that a fund hit a hardcap of $1B as of today's date, but they have already invested in 3 platform companies. Does that mean that while they were out raising that specific fund maybe 3 years ago they have been deploying capital at the same time they were fundraising?
What are the typical timelines between announcing a new fund to investing to hitting a hardcap to fully deploying capital? I know it all depends but for an average fund what does this look like?
Thanks
It really depends on the brand. Some funds can raise as much as they want very very quickly but if you're an emerging manager that didn't spin off Blackstone...you're probably going to take a while to raise a fund.
