PE Networking Advice

For some background, I work at a MM investment bank in Chicago. It's a good group at a reputable name but I'd say its not at the level of a Blair-type MM bank. I am grounded here in Chicago for the foreseeable future so moving cities isn't an option for me. Given I am not represented with a BB background, I do not get heavy amounts of recruiter activity in my inbox, although I have gotten some but for different cities.

In a perfect world, I'd want to line up a PE role in summer/fall 2024 and I would love some advice on how to best go about casually recruiting/networking to set myself up better for next year.

All advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
