PE Portfolio Ops / Value Creation
Currently exploring exit opportunities from Big 4 Financial Services Consulting. Got contacted by a couple headhunters for some PE Portfolio Operations positions (value creation team at a PE firm).
For context, I currently have over 3 years of experience (after undergrad) and do work in transformations and strategy. Looking at an Associate 1 position in PE ops.
Can someone comment on:
1) How to source these portfolio ops opportunities/get interviews (apart from networking); are there specific headhunters you'd recommend I reach out to? Market interest in: Dallas, Miami, Charlotte or worst case NYC.
2) Career path/potential: what exit ops can PE Ops role lead to? I know ops team has limited upside potential compared to investing roles at a PE firm, but my background seems to be the right fit for this role.
3) What does the comp and day-to-day look like/what skills do you gain in PE ops?
Thanks!
A lot of it is networking and being in the right place at the right time.
Some of them may post roles here and there but it's not that common. At least for a healthcare PE operations team that I'm familiar with, they only hire at the junior level for very specific skillsets that likely doesn't give much access to upward mobility within the team.
