PE Prestige

Hear me out. I am a girl in medical school dating a guy in finance (he claims he’s an associate at a mega fund). I dont understand the hype. He makes less money than my other guy friends in remote sales jobs and my understanding is that all he does is punch numbers into excel. Is his job impressive or should I convince him to go into sales, which seems like the more obvious path? Please no hate I just want to understand

It’s hard to say without knowing the MF. If he’s somewhere middling (think BX, KKR, H&F), I’d probably move into the sales role.

If he’s at a top top firm like White Hawk, I’d stay. It’s nearly impossible to get on that career path.

Either way, you’re right to note that no matter how far up the MF PE ladder he climbs, the money will never be what your friends remotely selling cyber security software are making.

Hope this helps!

Is that why you were posting on wso about finance recruiting 4 years ago? Just put the paracetamol in the bag bro
