PE Proprietary Dealflow
Does anyone here have experience at a LMM fund that has analysts and associates cold calling businesses for dealflow? This seems like a low probability, high effort endeavor and the business that respond to this kind of inbound inquiry might not be all that good?
Has anyone had success doing this? What other systems are in place to generate prop dealflow?
This is how all deal flow is generated. The only difference is the cost of doing so. Do you do it in house or do you pay a broker a few million dollars to do it for you?
Well brokers bring you deals that are real with business owners who are looking to transact. There is value there. It is much harder to find the needle in the haystack and an opportunity cost of doing so.
Oh I am not saying there isn't value there. I am just saying that is how deal flow is generated one way or another.
