PE Recruiting in Europe
Hey all,
Started off in IBD at a top 5 BB in a strong coverage group (C&R/Industrials) . Due to some visa issues, was transferred to London. Currently a first year associate in IBD. I was wondering if PE recruiting in Europe is still possible for me? I know in the US it is viewed as pretty late. I also don't have proficiency in European languages which I heard is important.
bump
Yes you can, talk to HHs ASAP - Blackwood and Kea are the best ones for PE.
Thanks for your input. I might be in a similar boat in a year due to visa concerns in the U.S. – would it be worth it reaching out to HHs proactively? Currently at a BB in NYC.
Also, long shot, but do you know anything about London funds' willingness to sponsor Tier 2 visas? I'm a resident in the EU (not citizen) so don't think I get any special treatment, but do speak 3 European languages
If you are an EU resident it should be relatively easy to get a visa no? Really got no clue about visas myself. But reaching out to HHs can only help you understand what to expect. Languages will be a very good asset though
Hey, I presume you are on OPT right now as a pose to H1-B ? Do you have any experience in recruiting for PE on OPT? Are MFs/UMM open to you recruiting on opt or do they generally need H1? Would appreciate your help-thanks!

Heard PE recruiting at MF/UMM is currently halted in Europe due to Covid. Certainly true at my firm
PER covers Benelux and DACH region quite extensively, worth browsing their website and/or getting in touch with them directly. I am of the impression there is more going on in Europe than there used to be: new funds have sprung up in Brussels recently, look up Core Equity Holdings for example.
Hi,
I have already had introductory phone calls with HHs (eg. KEA, Blackwood, Dartmouth) who reached out. Next week, I will have some longer interviews with them and don't know what to expect. What will the interview focus on / what to prep for? Will technicals, deal rationale etc already be tested or is that more during interviews with investment professionals?
I would recommend being quite pro-active as London/EU PE recruiting is not nearly as organized as it is in the US. Here is a long list of PE recruiters that focus on EMEA - make sure to reach out to most of the largest ones (eg., PER, KEA, WalkerHamil,Blackwood) to do an introduction so that they are aware of your presence and interest.
