PE recruiting out of M7 (non-HSW MBA)

Curious if folks have thoughts on what this looks like / what the best way to go about this is. For context, I'm a third year associate at a MM fund in a non-NYC / SF city applying to MBA schools this cycle. My firm doesn't have a particularly strong track record when it comes to b-school placement (1 HBS in recent memory, no GSB, and even Wharton is a struggle) so I'm expecting to end up at a school like Booth or Kellogg or Columbia albeit hopefully with some scholarship money. Is b-school worth it at that point and if so, how should I best position myself coming out of school for PE recruiting? Thanks!
