PE thesis ideas
Anyone has an (interesting) idea to write my bachelor thesis about? Or something you're personally curious about?I've got access to Preqin, Orbis and Zyphyr. So until now my general ideas headed towards fund or exit performance, but I can't come up with a specific/unique issue.I initially wanted to do an analysis on the effect of fund growth on the performance of the subsequent fund, but it turned out a Finnish student already did this. Maybe someone knows a variation to this? Thanks in advance!!
Why is the hurdle rate typically 8% before carry economics start? It has remained sticky through all kinds of interest rate environments.
Interesting articles to start off the search:

Have done 0 research on this but have always wondered about the return characteristics by industry. Thinking about HC funds, industrials funds, consumer funds, etc. Also wondering about what characteristics in each affect those returns. Some of that research already exists I'm sure.
I would do some research on specialist vs. generalist fund returns (probably only relevant to the MM/LMM). Maybe be tough to draw the line between generalist and specialist (I.e, how many industries covered makes a fund a generalist) but is an ongoing question/have my own thesis around where the industry is heading
LP info I've seen definitely shows outperformance by sector focused funds (or teams).
