Post MBA consulting to MM PE, viable?

Hi All,

I'm entering a T-15 MBA program next year, and getting into PE would be my dream career. However, already from speaking with people it sounds like it's not realistic for me to target PE directly out of MBA since I have no finance experience prior (tech background). Is going into management consulting with a DD transaction advisory focus for someone like Bain/LEK/EYP, and then successfully moving to a MM PE firm after 3-5 years a plan that has any viability? Or has the ship sailed for me ever getting into PE. Thank you!
