Post-MBA Lateral Market

Wanted to see if folks had any thoughts on what that process looks like. Started post-MBA back in August at a MM fund that I’m not completely thrilled with an am looking to make a lateral move. I’ve gotten a pretty great experience so far in terms of deal experience but have concerns about culture and people at my current place as well as their long-term positioning.

I’ve seen a fair number of folks make the move at the ~1 year mark — what’s the right time to start having conversations with recruiters, doing outreach to folks in my network etc.? I want to strike the balance between spending enough time at my current place and not missing out on opportunities. Anyone at the VP/SA positioning have a read on the opportunity set right now and how hot the market is?
