Pre-PE Associate Travel during COVID-19

My analyst stint is ending in mid-July and I'm slated to begin work at my new firm the first week of September (pre-Labor Day). I had always planned to travel before making the next step in my career, but COVID has obviously made going on an extended vacation more difficult. Curious if anyone has recommendations on things to do in the US for a couple of weeks to a month?

Given the circumstances, I think something in nature is the best bet - either renting a house somewhere with friends, or traveling through the national parks (assuming they are open). Thinking Alaska, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Colorado, Southern or Northern California, and Maine. Looking to decompress, clear my head, and recharge before the grind starts again.

Any trips you guys would suggest?

My friends and I were planning a road trip before starting our jobs but obv that was pre-covid. Now with a lot of things closed don’t think that would necessarily be a good idea.

What I’ve always wanted to do is experience living in a small town since I’ve only lived in big cities through my life. Maybe rent a house in small town with your friends and spend a couple of weeks there? Would be a good way to recharge and clear your mind I bet. Away from all the noise and hustle bustle of a big city but still not in the middle of nowhere so you have your conveniences near you.

I was thinking of driving up through New England to Maine to spend some time in Acadia National Park, which I think should be open by then. Might even continue the drive into Nova Scotia. You can also hit up a lot of cool towns / cities along the way: Newport RI, Boston, Portsmouth NH, Portland ME.

Although I guarantee there is a 100% chance of me spending my first week after I leave laying on a beach getting loaded.
