Private equity exec compensation vs. hedge fund execs

Anybody have a sense of what guys at top firms like Mount Kellett, Cerberus, Madison Dearborn, etc. pay to top execs. We all know of the hedge fund lists of top paid managers, guys who make 3,4,$900 million+. Considering many of these private equity firms are the same in terms of AUM and fee structure, is it safe to say that the top guys at Bain Capital or Hellman & Friedman are clearing similar numbers, $200M+ in a good year?

Right, and people at every firm own large equity stakes, most funds are owned by employees. I am just wondering if the compensation pool per employee is generally the same at private equity funds. I know a bunch of guys 35 and under at hedge funds who make in the $40+ range, so there must be the same guys at all the big PE funds, i just don't hear about them.

your upside if your good will be larger at a hf, especially at the young ages you are quoting nobody will make that money in pe (given you need to make partner, take 5 years to make and exit an investment and need to more likely than not to go to b-school). part of it is that launching your own hf (whilst still very difficult) is about 1000000000000x easier than launching your own PE fund. funds are not owned by their employees, funds are owned by their owned by their founders. averages will tend to be similar, just go compare avg. comp figures for the public guys.

I know 5 guys who made 40+ last year, 3 at the same fund. Maybe that doesn't consitute "a bunch," but it is several. You act like these people exist on another planet, they are humans as well. You think they only fraternize with each other at Leon Black's hamptons parties?

What a dumb shit.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.
