Private Equity Interview with Partners
Hi guys, I have a final interview coming up with a PE firm, where I'll be meeting a couple of partners, who spent a good 10 years in management consulting (MBBs) before moving to this PE firm. I have been explicitly told that two of my such interviews (with partners) will have a case study component involved as well. I've already passed the standard LBO modeling test (it wasn't standard, but I did ok), so I don't think I will be doing paper lbos or mental lbos with them. Either way, I want to do well in these two case study interviews (my background is in IB), but have no idea what to expect. I bet its going to be different from what I am used to, and so freaking out a little. Would really appreciate some guidance here? Thank you very much in advance.
You should definitely study some good ol’ consultant style casing! I recommend reading through Case In Point in terms seeing the types of questions and thought processes they are looking for and maybe even do some of the partner cases. I crash coursed this a PE interview and I felt very prepared for the consulting style of it all (but I didn’t get it so not an expert here haha)
Thank you. Any thoughts on why you think you didnt do well? Were the industries / companies that u were cased on random or relevant to the PE firm?
I think I did quite well in the interview, but it was a first round for a very competitive role. And it was totally random cases to my knowledge.
These are consulting cases and often they have a “part two” where the case turns into a paper LBO, and then after, you are expected to reflect on the business commercially and financially
