Private Equity Opportunity -- Need Advice and Resources!

Hi everyone,

This May I graduated from GWU School of Business (Finance) and I've been working in real estate for a few months. Through a friend, I've stumbled upon a tremendous opportunity in PE (LBO's) and I need to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. I have a good, basic knowledge of finance but nothing specifically in this arena and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Anything such as books, DVD series, online training, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help!

Best,

Brennan

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely take advantage of the aforementioned resources. To elaborate a bit on my original post, I will have an associate role in that I'll be primarily screening for investment opportunities and performing analysis of all investments.

There's no way you're going to learn everything you need to know so the best route is to keep it high level. This is a good start: http://mba.tuck.dartmouth.edu/pecenter/research/pdfs/LBO_Note.pdf

Find a well publicized deal and I'm sure there will be a bunch of discussions about it. Read up on it.

Know the basics, what makes a good PE investment, how returns are realized, different levers you can pull on to drive returns, etc...
