Prospect will give you a broader experience across opportunistic credit, private equity, real estate, etc. that will provide you a more robust and marketable skillset. However, I hear the culture is not great and that there has been a lot of attrition. Varagon is a leader in the MM private debt space, typically doing sponsor finance deals. They have a relatively large hold size and as such, are able to compete with some of the larger MM lending players. If you're thinking shorter term and want a more robust, comprehensive experience I would go with Prospect whereas if you are looking for a home and are OK doing sponsor finance then go Varagon.
