I've got a finance interview with PSP Investments (Montreal) soon. I was wondering if anyone has been through the process and can give me some advice or suggestions?
i was told there will be a case study where I'm given 3-4 hours to prepare a presentation for the team. They didn't tell me if it's an LBO modeling case or something more qualitative. I can probably ask for more details, but all the same I hope I can get some feedback on how I should prep. Or if people can share their do's and don'ts for case study interviews that'd be great too.

Know something about Telesat (the Canadian satellite operator). That's one of PSP's biggest PE holdings.
in my experience...whenever you talk about a portfolio company/deal that the PE/IB has done, you will always come off as stupid. they will know more than you. its pointless and hurts you if you pretend to know much about the deal/company. they will know much more and wont think of you as insightful.
I really disagree. They will expect you to know about their deals.
^ Depending on how it's done. If you come off cocky as if you know everything off the bat, then they'll quiz you and you'll look the fool.
If you were asked about what you know (either on a deal they did, or deal ABC specifically), and you start with - "I know the high level details" and then start describing, it can come off as 'you did your homework'.

Has anyone ever heard of PSP Investments? It is a Montreal, Canada based manager of about $40B in government pension funds.
Was wondering if anyone had any detail on the comp at this firm, specifically for analysts in its private equity, real estate and infrastructure divisions?
Also, any insight on culture / work environment / deal flow would be greatly appreciated.

PSP is a pension fund. They are the largest LP in several US funds, and will frequently co-invest alongside MidOcean, etc. I think a job with PSP could be interesting, but from my experience they often let the GP run diligence. Pay idk.
PSP has multiple private investment groups (PE, RE, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, etc) which vary in the degree of transaction involvement. Some groups are focused solely on direct investing (ie. acting a GP) while others are more passive making fund investments and participating in co-investments instead of leading transactions.
