Public Credit in AM to Private Credit

Hi all,

How hard is the exit from a public credit research role at a big AM(Fidelity, Blackrock, Wellington, etc...) to a direct lending/private credit role? The public credit role specifically is in HY/Bank Loans. Thanks for any insight!

Have you always done public credit or do you have any experience on the private side? If you don't have any experience on the private side you will have to show that you are able to 1) understand the deal process & manage the various counterparties 2) conduct the DD vs. just forming a view from what has be prepared for you by bankers. Would be hard but not impossible in my opinion.
