Pushed out as PE VP

Title says it all. I’m sure this is happening to a lot of folks given where the industry is at. Also realizing I don’t see myself in PE long term, thinking moving to the company side. Debating taking some real time off but not sure how that’ll look optically and how to explain it. Any thoughts? Feels like the first move post-PE is an important one, especially when you’re later in your career (8+ YOE)

In similar boat. Right now trying to lateral but the VP lateral market as you are aware is weak. If I'm not successful in a few months, will just drop off at my firm without another job offer and take ~3 or so months to travel. I know there's a risk with a resume gap but think that only matters if you want to stay in PE (other jobs are more forgiving). There's a decent amount of PE backed companies/roll-ups hiring for their corp dev function. As you said tech is harder to recruit for unless you did BB/EB tech + tech PE
