Question about Private Equity MD Compensation
Looking into an opportunity for a Managing Director position in North East US at a top 20 PE firm, AUM 20B+. Was told base is 350K, with 375K bonus and 175 Deferred stock, total 900K excluding carry which will kick in year three and beyond.
Is this a low ball ? I felt that it is that I should not take it seriously.
Based on the comp surveys I have seen, base+bonus range should be 1.2M+. Is that accurate ?
Candidate has long tenure in tech industry but never worked in PE. So, it would be a transition to an operating role.
Any color is appreciated.
