Recruitment Put On Hold - Asked to Keep in Touch?
Guys, would appreciate some feedback from experienced pe professionals.
I recently interviewed with a very respectable SWF. Advanced to the second last stage and before I could be flown out for final round, the SWF, due to some internal organizational changes (that the team had no say over but were dictated by HR), the process was put on hold. The MD of that team had really liked me and had referred me to another team within the organization that he thought was supposedly hiring at that point but before I could start the process with the new team, I got an email that the new team had also had to halt the process due to the aforementioned reasons.
I've already quit my job due to some visa issues (long story) - that the SWF acknowledged I had no control over - and while im in the process of interviewing for other opportunities, none of those are as respectable as the SWF for which i was being considered.
My questions to the respectable investment pros on this forum are: 1 - how do I keep in touch (which I was asked to do), and 2 - when should I email the team next asking if the recruiting situation has been resolved?! I have a feeling that i only get one or two trys at this "keeping in touch" because if i email them too many times, they might be turned off. Usually I keep in touch by congratulating inv. professionals on deals announced but you have to bear in mind that for this SWF firm, they don't disclose their investments on the website. Also, it's been a month+ since this debacle happened
would be most grateful for thoughtful views on my situations. thanks all in advance!
Question I have from reading your post: What is SWF?
In light of that question, I actually was in an interview process a few months ago where this happened. Long story short, the last thing that needed to be completed was a Case Study after the Office Interview but the process was shut down due to internal reorganization. I decided to move on with other applications and interview processes.
I would say you could email a few weeks a key contact from the interview process to see how things are and what their hiring needs are (I have done this for different companies in the past to different types of outcomes). Other than that, keep pushing forwards in terms of other job processes.
One other consideration for you to keep in mind: Is this a firm you really want to work for given how the interview process has unfolded? Remember that an interview is a two-way street and I would be concerned about joining the firm if this is how the interview process unfolds.
I assume SWF = Sovereign Wealth Fund (i.e. GIC)
