Relocation Bonus
Hi all, I got an offer from a UMM/MF firm in a tier 1/2 city and would be moving from another tier 1 city. When lateraling as an associate, what would be a fair relocation bonus/stipend? Currently getting offered $10k, not sure if I really have leverage to negoatiate this. Would be curious on others who made a similar move and maybe negotiated
0 negotiation leverage.
$10k is standard
Appreciate the response, thanks for the input
Have only ever heard of 0k or 10k for the relocation with a lot of firms giving you nothing. Even the smaller class size UMM/MFs are 10k.
I got 25k from kkr back in the day

Are your actual moving expenses going to be more than $10k or are you trying to make money off of it?
If your actual moving expenses are going to be more than $10k, you might give HR a call and explain that between breaking your lease, and movers, it’s going to be $17k (would lead with an exact number), and ask HR if they would be willing to give any additional consideration stating that this is the actual cost and you don’t want to lose money moving. Not a guarantee they’ll do anything but that’s a professional way of asking.
Definitely not trying to make money, just want to move comfortably. Helpful response, thanks. That’s essentially what I was getting at
