Remote Start to Associate Programme

I am hearing from two peers who are currently employed in their 2-year associate programmes (one at a global MF, and one at a large American MM platform) that they are preparing for remote onboarding of their incoming summer 2020 associate classes.

How will this work? How long do you expect this to continue? What is your firm doing? I worry about my ability to get up to speed with a remote start.

It's tough to tell. Unfortunately, different firms have different definitions of "onboarding." Some view it as background checks, reference calls, choosing health insurance & 401k, getting IT set up, etc., while others also include some preliminary training or intro to proprietary systems or precedent materials.

My fund has indicated that the traditional onboarding (no training or anything like that) will most likely be done remotely, but the start (early August) will very much be in person. Unfortunately, I don't have color into other funds other their plans. Let me know if you have further questions.
