no, everyone I know that reneged a PE offer was forced to come to the office and grind out the contract they agreed to.
I had signed an offer at Apollo NY office but reneged for an offer at Bregal Sagemount for obvious reasons (culture, comp, prestige, etc. — happy to give more info here). Apollo was pretty chill about it and didn’t ask for the $50k sign-on bonus back or anything and I have kept a good relationship with the Principal who recruited me there. He hasn’t agreed to release my soul yet though because I signed the contract in blood and was required to perform a Wicca sacrificing of my first born child.
