Resources for Data Center / Infrastructure Modeling
Hello, I am pretty far along in a process with a buy-side shop to do infrastructure investing, specifically covering data centers. So I can better prepare and share resources, has anyone seen any good models or investing guides for data center or infrastructure PE?
Some good resources to throw in on the data center landscape:
- Green Street's global data center outlook (gold standard)
- Oppenheimer's initiation report on Vertiv (to understand the mechanical and electrical systems)
- Moffettnathanson primers on infrastructure (cable, internet, etc.)
- Deutsche's 2017 initiating coverage report on Equinix

I've gone a lot deeper in the space since the last post, so I'll add some notes here, given that this is a very critical part of the market at the moment:
The best resource I have found from an equity research perspective is Greg Miller from Citizens Bank. If any of you are able to find his deep dives on breaking down the value chain of NeoClouds versus the rest of the data center industry, I think he has one of the best approaches to trying to understand and conceptualize all the different parts of the value chain. Data center and GPU modeling is, honestly, incredibly easy once you get into it. The problem is that all the assumptions are guesses by everyone in the industry is going around and using their best estimation on the data, just trying to throw down capacity.
Any chance you could share the PDF of it? Tried but failed to find the report online....Many thanks in advance!!!
