Resume Recommendations - Senior Analyst Looking to Break into Private Credit/PE/IB/Corp Strategy

Previously a Senior Financial Analyst at a large asset manager (~$3T) (3 years total experience) looking to transition into private credit, private equity, investment banking, or corporate strategy roles. I've been getting interviews but not converting to offers, so I need some tough love on my resume. If you have any recommendations on intermediate roles that would help me through my journey - please let me know!

BS in International Financial Management at a California State University
3+ years in corporate finance/FP&A roles
Strong financial modeling and analysis experience
Previously worked as a Financial Analyst at a Fortune 500 consumer goods company (2022-2024)
CFA Level 1 Candidate

Target Roles:

Private Credit Analyst/Associate
Private Equity Analyst/Associate

Structure:

Layout is generally fine.
I would personally add another section relating to Leadership / Awards / Volunteering / Personal Projects
I would also move your university underneath your experience as you now have 3+ years.

Formatting:

These are mostly nitpicky comments
- I would abbreviate your dates September 2022 - March 2025 >> Sep 2022 - Mar 2025
- Many instances of bullets where 1 or 2 words are dragging on to a 2nd line. Either have a really actionable and detailed 2 line bullet or shorten your bullets to just be one line. This looks sloppy at best.
  - This will also create a TON of extra space on your resume to enable you to add additional sections or relevant experience
- Not sure if the black bar across the right side is the page being cut or a part of the resume itself. Remove it regardless
- Senior Financial Analyst - Global Finance >> Senior Financial Analyst, Global Finance
  - Personally think this looks a little bit sharper

Content:

No offense but if your interests are all related to the job you do or would like to do it comes across as less interesting. If I am making a decision on who to interview and its close between candidates often times a personal interest can be the difference. You can also make these fun but interesting IE:
- Reading (up to X pages this year)
- NBA (go X)
- Restaurants (Yelp Platinum reviewer)
As on outsider, in your role titles with "Global Finance" its not clear to me what that refers to. Not saying it is bad just its not implicitly clear to me. Did you work in treasury? Were you overseeing a BU? Were you in Corporate Finance? Is this a macro role? etc
Professional Development: CFA Level 1 Candidate
- Everyone that signs up for the exam is a CFA Level 1 Candidate. I get the intention to show commitment to continuous development but this felt like wasted space / moot. I would keep/add if you cleared L1.
Many of your bullets lack "outcome" or "content". It feels like you are telling me verbatim what you did rather than the impact you had.
- Current: Forecasted multi-year financial projections incorporating market trends, asset performance metrics, and expense forecasts
  - Outcome: Architected 5-year plan for $X.0T insert company type platform and presented strategic insights to executive committee
- Current: Created complex financial models for scenario analysis and performance forecasting, enabling data-driven resource allocation decisions across business units
  - Outcome: Built firm-wide resource allocation model that directly informed staffing decisions of X+ employees across Y divisions.
Are you still employed in your current role or did it end in Mar 2025?
- If still employed I would put Sep 2024 - Present

Skills:

Where relevant I would either consolidate or split into different sections. Your technical skills are a mix of actual relevant software and an amalgamation of buzzwords.
- Computer Skills: Excel (Advanced), Salesforce, Tableau, etc [this is all fine]
- Buzzwords: Investment Analysis, Portfolio Assessment, Capital Allocation Strategy, Performance Evaluation
  - Please help me understand what being skilled in Portfolio Assessment or Performance Evaluation looks like (hmm yes we made 200% return, I assess that we performed well)
  - Everything you have here can basically be captured in your existing bullets in some way or another.
