Seems like there’s no time until the 11th hour to ask someone for help and there’s impossible time crunches. Anyone sink in PE and still be able to recover and catch up to their peers?

Career Resources
Important to remember you've got a long career. Had mine derailed early on due to the firm blowing up but now am very well positioned compared to my peers. Most tail-distribution wealth outcomes happen through entrepreneurship anyways. Many case studies of people having an entire other career (military, etc.) then building a company in their 40s and having an outsized wealth event.
Execution provides no value. Sourcing is your alpha in private markets. You're not behind at all on value accretive tasks.
