Someone's Claim

So someone I know (through the Internet) claims that he got a PE summer internship at a top firm (Silverlake, KKR, TPG), as a sophomore at Cornell AEM.

He did have a high GPA, and claims it was a summer analyst role and not a support role, that he did not have any connection to the industry, and that he landed this internship in June.

Is this plausible?

I told him that I didn't believe him. As far as I know, Silverlake only recruits from Wharton and TPG doesn't have analysts, and I'm not sure about KKR.
