Has anyone had success sourcing deals in the lower middle-market with free resources? We are just launching our firm and haven't moved on a technology platform (e.g. Pitchbook) yet, so I'm currently trying to aggregate a list of small businesses we can reach out to through some sort of free online offering.
Please post any good sites below, and if I come across any I will do the same.

Pitchbook sucks. Industry specific resources paired with a VA + automatic reach out via tools like Reply.io etc is really the best approach.
Thanks! What are some examples of industry specific resources you use? And pardon my ignorance, but what is a VA?
As you can imagine, any central database would generate hundreds of approaches to the same lower mid-market companies from numerous funds doing the same thing, over and over. Personally, I would choose a sector and then look at trade associations, pre-Covid industry event participants at trade shows, etc. This approach might also educate you how to tailor your pitch to specific pain points faced by companies in a given industry.
