Sourcing Bonus?

Have heard some growth equity shops give out extra bonuses to associate / analysts that source investments. Could anyone provide more insight into what this looks like exactly? What firms offer this? How much is the bonus typically? Is it cash or carry in the investment? How many of these could you get a year theoretically?

Thanks!

Sourcing is just part of the job at these places - up to 50% or more of your work can be focused on this, depending on the shop.

Have friends in GE and at many of these firms the kudos is just a high annual bonus, since it is simply what you are paid very well to do. Some have a sourcing bonus, 0.5-1% is a good range to think about (often cash, some will also give you phantom equity) my info there is a few years out of date so that range may have moved in the last few years. But you're not getting hundreds of thousands here

Rare to get more than 1 or maybe 2 deals a year - just think about how hard it is to get these deals across the line. If you like sourcing, GE is a good spot, but you're not making crazy windfalls off a the sourcing bonus.
