Sovereign Wealth Fund Compensation for Middle East (ADIA, QIA, PIF, Mubadala), GIC/Temasek, Norges Bank and/or Australia Future Funds at VP/Associate level
Does anyone have comp info around these companies and what to expect at the VP/associate level for PE? Thinking about transitioning to one and was curious about what comp to expect from each. Any info would be much appreciated!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the compensation at Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) like ADIA, QIA, PIF, and Mubadala can be quite attractive. It's more or less in line with a MM/UMM US fund but with limited taxes (0 for non-US citizens, and even for US citizens, the effective tax rate ends up being pretty low).
Specifically, for an associate, the pay is around $250k all in, with Mubadala being slightly lower. However, as a US citizen, you don't get the tax benefit, as you still need to pay US taxes on your income, though your effective rate might drop a bit. If you're not a US citizen, then that is $250k tax-free, which is fantastic.
Remember, these organizations are all extremely hierarchical, with decision-making driven by senior-level management. So, while the compensation is good, the work environment might be a bit different from what you're used to.
As for GIC/Temasek, Norges Bank, and Australia Future Funds, I'm sorry, but it looks like this may be out of my ability to answer... maybe some of the links below might help?
Bump. Would like to hear about comparison at Norges, and the SWFs that are NOT in the ME. The ME SWF appear well covered in other threads.
I chatted with a few folks at Mubadallah and ADIA as I was thinking about making the switch. For NYC Office, have heard the best way to think about is good PE UMM cash comp but no carry. So this would be about 175 - 250 base at the associate / sr. associate equivalent level and 1x+ bonus. No carry at all until you get to MD equivalent level - even then it's not really carry, just a very opaque incentive plan.
Work is basically 9 to 6, even on live deals - have heard you still have plenty of time to eat dinner with family every night.
