Staying in Banking vs leaving for PE
I love my job and have a decent enough team (plenty of people I dislike) along with a few people who are alright. Nevertheless I love the work (already moved from a top bank in London to a regional bank close to my home) and due to my move only work 50-60h a week while making almost street money in a LCOL (save c. 60% of my net income, despite having my own apartment + expensive lifestyle )
I do have the chance of moving to a LMM PE, initially pay is lower, but I read that this is to be expected. Now I'm wondering if its worth it to leave the track of a career banker (ECM) to become a PE guy.
How likely is it to make more than street pay in LMM PE? (Especially in a high-interest environment)
(Note: no MBA required)
Edit: also ECM to LMM PE is possible in my country
Unless you have a burning desire to actually be an investor - not clear at all that the move would be worth it.
Couldn't care less what I do, yes Equities is more exciting because much more present in the press especially if it's MM IB.
Even LMM PE seems significantly more competitive (not only to get in but to progress) while there's a fair amount of idiots in capital markets
