Switching to Finance after 1.5 years in RE with a high undergrad GPA
I've been working in real estate at a small REPE firm since I graduated 1.5 years ago. Even though I like real estate, I feel my earning potential is too low, and I'd also like to venture into something more challenging. I went to a big 10 under grad b-school (think Illinois, Wisco, Indiana) with a 3.98 GPA. I did not do any finance internships. Am I pretty stuck at this point? I feel I have 0 shot at getting a banking offer at a reputable firm now that I'm 1.5 years out of school which kills me because I know with my GPA I could've easily landed an offer coming out of undergrad. I am mostly interested in a smaller PE firm in a secondary city such as Denver or Minneapolis. Is there any shot I could transition straight to a firm without banking experience if I get an MBA from a top program?
