Team of Family Offices
Has anyone heard of a collection of family offices that work together to make direct PE investments? I know there are plenty of large family offices that manage their own wealth, but what about when 5-10 families come together to increase their check sizes and get better diversification.
For context, I essentially manage investments for my family now (I also work full-time at MM PE Fund), but it's boring/lonely and also scary when you can't diversify or get scale beyond your own dollars. Working with a few others like myself would be much more fun and helpful. Being an LP is a joke, the fees are insane and the GPs are more interested in raising larger funds and deploying quickly regardless of whether it makes sense.

Not sure about as a once off, as that would take a lot of search to find other FOs that have the same mindset and agree on a deal. You probably know that multi-family offices exists. Various ways they can form but usually a successful family office takes on capital of other family offices.
What size check are you typically looking at? Where would you like to be?
