Therapy

Anyone here see anyone to deal with job-related stress or burnout? I’m sure it’s like the sopranos where you don’t want to go out and say it, but for those willing to share anonymously just curious if that’s even worked for anyone or if there’s no point to that.

What ended up happening was that I saw someone to deal with the side effects of burnout - relationships, substance use, lack of direction. Ironically, it becomes somewhat difficult to manage regular appointments when also dealing with fire drills.

Helped me realize I was sacrificing pretty much everything to chase a feeling of accomplishment. I don’t need PE money, I didn’t love investing (at least not enough to grind every single day), and I didn’t like the people above me.

The good thing about therapy is that it feels like a total pain in the ass, but it does force you to set aside an hour to talk about…anything. I didn’t find my therapist all too great, but it was a way to have dedicated time that was about me and only me. Without this structure I’d just throw on Netflix or go out drinking with my friends and ignore my issues (aside from saying “dawg I’m gonna quit” over beers every week).
