Title Progression (RE)PE vs Development
The "normal" hierarchy I've witnessed for development goes: Analyst → Associate → Manager → Director → VP → ... (EVP/Principal/MD) → Partner.
While at a PE shop it's: Analyst → Associate → VP → Principal (or Director) → Partner (or MD).
(With "Senior" sometimes sprinkled in depending on the firm.)
Why is it that VP and Director are switched? I've also been under the assumption that "MD" has more of a capital markets focus. Titles are all over the place in CRE, especially development, but what's your take on a track that makes the "most sense" (for development)?
Uh, I originally posted this in the RE forum, and after editing/trying to switch it keeps being moved to PE?
