Too early to leave for the buy-side?
I've done a rotational grad programme in London for one year & got a permanent job as an Analyst in a Capital Markets Origination team, one which I rotated in for 4 months during the grad programme. I started the permanent job about four weeks ago. My two other rotations were in Syndicated Debt and an Advisory team, both in Capital Markets.
I've had a head hunter contact me for a position as an Analyst / Junior Associate at a ~$3bn Credit fund, which is operating & growing in the space in which I wish to work. Whilst I'm yet to find information on compensation, I'm wondering whether it would be too early to move anyway? How likely is it that I reach and flop on the job? The head hunter mentioned that her client is willing to take on someone more junior as an Analyst & train them up, but I am unsure how true that is and don't know whether I should ask the senior members of the fund when I meet them. To be honest, would they give me an honest answer?
Looking forward to your answers, cheers!
