Types of people in PE

Not the hierarchy which has been widely discussed but talking about the diversity of personality types in PE besides the classic IB -> PE guy.  For example, the "people person" who is an analyst who may not be the most technical guy on the team but has hustle to talk to a variety of people.

Did big tech/FAANG SWE internships before landing in consulting and I'm not entirely sure this is true. Not sure what the corporate industry is like at the "lower" tiers of firms e.g., MM IB, Big 4/T2 consulting, F500/legacy SWE, but coming from a target I know tons of BB/EB, MBB, and FAANG SWE kids. There are a lot of kids who have the mental chops to code circles around the average person and really be a rockstar in an individual dev environment, but they lack even the more concrete skills of the corporate world, like critical thinking, imagining the big picture consequences of actions. Some of them even sucked at accounting classes lmfao.

I'd say the idea of a universal IQ that determines how good someone is at everything intellectual doesn't really exist the way we think it does, and instead people's brains are wired to different degrees for different topics.

I’ll give my favorite:

HBS grad that seems to think their background makes them intelligent and their analysis profound. I have heard more confident, but wildly incorrect statements by HBS grads than any other type of individual. I think the degree gives people confidence to state things that someone with less credentials might not say and as a result you get some very humorous dialogues sometimes.
