UMM >> LMM — Is UMM/MF closed off to me?

Was at a UMM fund (think $10-15bn fund) for three years before lateraling to a high performing LMM fund ($1-1.5bn) and securing a VP promote in the process. After a year here I think LMM isn’t for me and I want to look at bigger deals again. Is this feasible at this point or am I shut into LMM?

Will your old firm take you back? Going there for 2-3 years is probably your best bet.

Outside of that, I think it's unlikely you'll get looks above MM. 3 years at UMM reads as you weren't put up for promotion and had to downgrade hard to land somewhere. Even if that's not the full story, UMM/MF firms are not looking for the needle in the LMM haystack when they have a line of laterals from the same level of firm
