Undergrad summer PE analyst positions
Are there specific programs for these or are they just cold outreach or nepo? I've heard of some megafunds like Blackstone offering them to rising seniors but I've also been seeing some ppl getting analyst roles at really good MM PE funds like GI Partners for the summer after their freshman year. Saw one stanford dude working at Permira the summer after his freshman year too.
Are these through specific programs (I can't seem to find any online)? When do people start recruiting for these? Do you just reach out to a bunch of associates at a specific firm? I'm so lost
Thank you!
There are multiple established summer analyst programs that convert into full-time analyst positions assuming you are competent during the internship. Recruiting timeline is roughly the same as typical banking programs w/ interviews taking place during sophomore year (internship takes place during junior summer).
A few of the mega funds offer these (BX,KKR,Bain,Vista). Some MM funds do as well (GTCR, Audax, Charlesbank, Ares). I’m sure there are other programs but these are the ones that come to mind.
Know that a few of the larger funds like Warburg will recruit FT analysts during their Junior summer.
Yeah but how are these ppl in their freshman summer at places like GI Partners and Permira w/o nepo? Also if you do get a return offer at a place like KKR and join, would you be able to eventually join as an associate at a different PE firm? Like would exit opps be similar to banking?
