Unique opportunity to join MM PE Firm
Was contacted by a head hunter for an operations PE role. Wanted to gather advice from this forum on whether or not to join smaller middle market PE firm.
Offer is for the operations side, but will receive exposure to deal side. Goal is for this role to ultimately replace an older partner who is planning on retiring in 5-6 years. My prior career experience includes Data & Analytics at Big 4, Big 4 Management Consulting and Strategy/Business Management at JP Morgan (currently). The operations of PE has always interested me, but unsure how this opportunity could look in the long term. Firm interested has $40AUM, dedicated long term capital and 5 about to be 6 companies in their portfolio. Is it dangerous to join a smaller firm or is smaller better due to the exposure you will receive?
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
