West Coast UMM/MF B-School placement and compensation

Hey all- quick question here regarding west coast UMM/MF vs their east coast counterparts: is it generally true to say that b-school placements favor west coast schools over east coast? Please humor me, but for someone with a pristine/flawless resume, would they have a stronger chance of getting into GSB over Harvard, for example, all else equal?

Also, is it generally true to say that west coast PE funds comp the same as funds based in NYC, even if they only have one location or main location is say in SF? E.G would someone from Golden Gate or TPG be comped generally in line with someone who works at insert equivalent UMM based in NYC? Know it depends on fund as well as other factors, but if anyone has any insights here would be greatly appreciated!
