What are the primary Transaction Advisory Services firms?
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a feel for what the main firms are that provide transaction advisory services to private equity firms. It looks like the big 4 are obvious players, but I don't understand who else provides similar financial due diligence. Do investment banks have arms that do any financial/tax diligence work for financial buyers? When they talk about buyside M&A services, is that more of outsourced corp dev for companies, or can it involve transaction services for PE? What about the big management consulting firms, does Bain's PE group do financial diligence? Otherwise is it mostly just accounting firms of all sizes?
I'm a little lost on the topic, so I appreciate any help. Any other ideas how to compare the different firms would be super appreciated as well.
Thanks!
Financial DD: big 4 and tier 2 accountants
Commercial DD: McK, Bain, BCG (what's the business model like, what are operational levers, competitive playing field, etc)
Legal DD: law firms
Buy-side M&A: boutiques and banks that help you get the deal done (help in financing, negotiations, modelling, oversee DD advisers, etc)
Thanks for your thoughts. I assume the big 4 and MBB overlap into the other areas too? As in, do MBB offer financial and accountants offer commercial, so they can be a one-stop-shop of sorts?
b4 strategy arms do CDD but MBB eats our collective lunch
B4 does have CDD capabilities, MBB do not provide financial DD.
Alvarez and Marsal is a top firm outside the Big 4
