What are your thoughts on PC ?

As I have only done internships in equity jobs related (M&A, PE), I don't really know that much about PC but it really looks like THE place to be at the moment. I just wonder why? Is the job more interesting than PE and with better hours? I guess comp should be lower and less exit possible? How technical is PC compared to M&A/PE? So many questions I'm sorry but I really don't know that much and I don't want to miss a possible great opportunity.

Currently in PC, but have only been in industry for ~6 months so take what I say with a handful of salt.

I’d agree with most your assumptions except for PE being less interesting.

I frequently hear people telling me how hyped the industry is and that I should stay in it as it’s the place to be (as you suggested), but I’m currently looking at moving into PE as I don’t think it’s worth staying in a job that I don’t find particularly interesting purely because it’s a fast growing sector with increasing opportunities.

Interested in others thoughts, and feel free to ask further Q’s.

Thanks for the insight! What don't you like in your role? If you don't mind me asking, in which kind of investment fund are you in ? (MM, MF, Sovereign Fund, etc.)

And also, how difficult is the move PC to PE?

At a MF (but PC is one of their smaller teams). Personally, I don’t feel like an investor when considering things from credit perspective, there’s no real interest in value creation (who cares how well a company does, as long as it doesn’t do worse it can pay interest and principal) and little involvement in portco post investment. This might be partly offset by working on more distressed / opportunistic deals, and is something I’ve considered alongside PE.
